Carlos Alman, more accurately identified as Carlos Julio Almanzar, is best known as the father of Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B. Unlike his famous daughter, Carlos has spent most of his life away from cameras and entertainment headlines. He is of Dominican origin, built his working life in New York, and is publicly known for having worked as a cab driver.
Although numerous websites publish detailed claims about his age, height, wealth, and personal relationships, many of those details have never been independently confirmed. What is better documented is his Dominican background, family connection to Cardi B, and years of working in New York City.

Who Is Carlos Alman?
The name Carlos Alman is commonly used online, although Cardi B herself has identified her father as Carlos Julio Almanzar. His surname also appears in Cardi’s birth name, Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar.
Carlos did not build a career as an entertainer. Public interest in him developed mainly because of Cardi B’s success. Despite that attention, he has remained considerably more private than many relatives of major celebrities.
Carlos Alman Age
Carlos Alman’s exact birth date and age have not been reliably established by major sources. Some online biographies list March 19, 1958, which would make him 68 in 2026, but that date is difficult to verify through a strong primary source.
For this reason, it is better to describe his age as not publicly confirmed rather than present an internet estimate as established fact.
Dominican Roots
Carlos is originally from the Dominican Republic. Cardi B publicly stated that her father came to the United States from the Dominican Republic in 1990. His move eventually connected his life with New York’s large Dominican community and with the neighborhoods where Cardi spent much of her childhood.
Cardi grew up between areas including the Bronx and Washington Heights. Her Dominican heritage from her father’s side and Trinidadian heritage from her mother’s side became important parts of her cultural identity.
Career
Carlos’s best-documented profession is New York City cab driving. Cardi B said in 2020 that her father had worked as a cab driver for nine years. Earlier reporting from The FADER also described him as a cab driver while Cardi was beginning to gain public attention.
In a 2016 interview, Cardi discussed considering buying a bodega partly because she wanted her father to leave cab driving. A later FADER profile reported that he preferred working rather than simply accepting an allowance from his daughter.
Carlos Alman Wife
Carlos is publicly associated with Clara Almánzar, Cardi B’s mother. Clara is of Trinidadian background and worked as a cashier while raising her family in New York.
Carlos and Clara later separated. Cardi has spoken about her parents splitting when she was young, and PEOPLE reports that their divorce happened when she was around 13 years old. Reliable reporting does not clearly establish Carlos’s current marital status.
Carlos Alman Children
The two children most clearly connected to Carlos in established reporting are Cardi B and Hennessy Carolina.
Cardi B was born in New York in 1992 and later became an internationally successful rapper. Hennessy Carolina, Cardi’s younger sister, has also built a public following and appeared in entertainment and fashion circles.
Some websites claim Carlos has additional children from another relationship, but those reports are not documented consistently enough to give a definite number. PEOPLE confirms that Carlos and Clara raised Cardi and Hennessy together.
Relationship With Cardi B
Cardi B has openly discussed her father and his influence on her upbringing. Her interviews show a daughter who understood how hard both parents worked and later wanted to improve their financial circumstances.
A 2017 FADER profile also described a guest room in Cardi’s apartment that belonged to her father when he stayed there, illustrating that he remained present in her adult family life.
Carlos Alman Net Worth
There is no verified public estimate of Carlos Alman’s personal net worth.
Although some celebrity websites publish specific figures, no dependable financial records or statements from Carlos support those numbers. His daughter’s wealth should also not be treated as his own.
His known working background is tied primarily to taxi driving rather than entertainment or a publicly documented business empire.
Height and Appearance
Carlos’s official height has not been publicly confirmed. A figure of around 5 feet 11 inches appears on several biography websites, but there is no strong source establishing that measurement.
Available public photographs show an older man with a fairly ordinary appearance who dresses casually at family occasions. Since Carlos is not a public entertainer, detailed information about his weight, body measurements, or other physical statistics is unavailable.
Lifestyle
Carlos appears to maintain a private, low-profile lifestyle compared with his daughter.
There is little reliable information concerning luxury homes, cars, expensive collections, investments, or frequent celebrity events. His public story is much more closely connected to family, immigration, and working life in New York than to celebrity wealth.
Social Media
There is currently no clearly verified major social-media account publicly associated with Carlos Alman.
Profiles using similar names should therefore not automatically be treated as belonging to Cardi B’s father. His limited online presence is consistent with the generally private life documented in reporting about Cardi’s family.
Interesting Facts
Carlos’s full name has been given by Cardi B as Carlos Julio Almanzar. He comes from the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States in 1990.
He spent years working as a New York cab driver, while Cardi’s mother worked as a cashier.
His daughters Cardi B and Hennessy Carolina both became recognizable public figures, although Carlos himself has largely stayed outside the spotlight.
Final Thoughts
Carlos Alman is best understood as a private family figure rather than a celebrity in his own right. His documented story follows a Dominican immigrant who moved to the United States, worked as a New York cab driver, and helped raise a family that would later include one of the world’s best-known rappers.
His exact age, height, personal net worth, current relationship status, and social-media presence remain unverified. Keeping those distinctions clear makes his biography more accurate while still showing the important place he holds in Cardi B’s family background.
